In the New York Metropolitan area, where creativity never seems to sleep, a late-blooming story has taken shape. It belongs to Robert Dino James Sears, a man whose life has unfolded across many paths before he found his most recent calling.
Robert has always been someone with more than one gear. His early dreams had him spinning vinyl as a young DJ in the late 1960s. He went on to explore a wide mix of careers, businesses, and interests, building a life filled with memorable people and places. For decades, those experiences sat quietly, ready to be shared.
Then in June of 2023, at the age of eighty, Robert made a decision that changed everything. He wrote his first book and founded his own publishing brand, Dino James Books. The name reached back to his DJ days, when “Dino James” served as his on-air persona during an audition at a Mount Kisco rock station. It was a symbol of youthful drive back then. Today it has become the banner for his work as an author.
Dino James Books began by publishing non-fiction with a focus on personal growth, reflection, and lived experience. Robert wrote from real life, using the lessons gathered as a traveler, businessman, cancer survivor, and lifelong observer of people. His books carry an honest voice and practical wisdom that meets readers where they are.
As of today, Dino James Books has released more than forty titles, with more scheduled for publication in 2026. But the story is still unfolding. Robert has shifted much of his recent writing toward spiritual themes, creating a growing collection of novels with strong metaphysical and reflective undertones. These four novels resonate with readers who are curious about deeper questions of meaning, purpose, and inner transformation, without requiring any specific belief system.

Robert D. Sears is an author, essayist, educator, retired financial planner, aviator, and lifelong student of the human experience. He is a featured columnist for America Out Loud and has also been featured in Miracles Magazine.
Robert began publishing books at the age of eighty, proving that creativity has no expiration date. Through Dino James Books, he has since produced a rapidly growing body of work spanning spirituality, personal growth, politics, relationships, retirement and estate planning, fiction, and the search for meaning in an increasingly complicated world.
His writing reflects a lifetime unusually rich in experience.
Robert served in the United States Army and has had a long association with the Civil Air Patrol, beginning in the 1960s. He has served in leadership, mentoring, and command positions and has worked extensively with young people interested in aviation and service.
Aviation has been one of the enduring passions of his life. Robert became a certified flight instructor in both powered aircraft and gliders and spent many years introducing others to flight. He has also been a SCUBA instructor, volunteer firefighter and ambulance volunteer, actor in more than fifty theatrical productions, computer science graduate, financial professional, teacher, and mentor.
For much of his professional career, Robert worked in financial planning, eventually becoming a Certified Financial Planner and building a successful practice serving clients throughout the Northeast and into Florida. Later in life, at an age when many people stop collecting degrees, he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a 4.0 academic record.
His spiritual journey has been equally extensive. Robert has spent decades studying questions of consciousness, perception, forgiveness, fear, identity, and the nature of God. His work has been strongly influenced by A Course in Miracles, while also exploring Christianity, metaphysics, philosophy, psychology, science, and other spiritual traditions.
For several years he has shared those ideas through books, essays, discussions, and weekly presentations associated with ACIM Gather.
Robert’s writing does not ask readers simply to agree with him. He asks them to question assumptions, examine their own thinking, challenge fear, and consider whether the world may be very different from the way we have been taught to perceive it.
His political writing follows the same principle. Rather than treating politics merely as a contest between parties, he frequently examines propaganda, tribalism, fear, manipulation, loyalty,
power, and the psychological forces that divide people who may have far more in common than they realize.
In 2008, Robert underwent radiation treatment for cancer that eventually caused severe damage to his ability to speak. As his physical voice diminished, writing became an increasingly important way for him to communicate.
What might have appeared to be an ending became another beginning.
Today, writing is Robert’s principal voice.
Together with his wife and fellow author, Cherie S. Tucker, he continues to develop books and essays through Dino James Books. Their work ranges from fiction and children’s literature to spirituality, social commentary, nature, personal development, and questions that resist easy answers.
Robert’s late arrival as an author has become one more chapter in a life built around curiosity, service, teaching, and reinvention.
His underlying message is remarkably consistent:

Cherie S Tucker’s life has been a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of community service, sportsmanship, and a deep love for nature. Her journey began in the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), where she dedicated an astounding 40 years of her life. Starting as a coach for 6 and 7-year-old boys, Cherie’s commitment led her to don various hats within the organization. Her rise culminated in the role of National Executive Director, overseeing an impressive 500,000 players and 200,000 volunteers. Along the way, she served as National Secretary and chaired the Educational Commission, pioneering a groundbreaking training and certification program—a first among youth sports organizations. Her illustrious service was honored with induction into the AYSO Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009, a testament to her unwavering dedication.
Later in life, Hawaii beckoned, where Cherie spent three years of “extended vacations” teaching business management classes at Maui Community College. All this while, amidst her extensive travels for AYSO, Cherie has remained an avid gardener, nurturing abundant fruit trees and vegetables that fill the kitchens of family and neighbors alike. Her love for orchids blossomed after her children left home, and her garden has always been a sanctuary for a myriad of creatures—from butterflies to hummingbirds, mantids, hawks, and nesting turtledoves.
It was amidst this garden oasis that Cherie and Robert had their first encounter with a Monarch caterpillar, a serendipitous moment that sparked their journey into butterfly conservation. Their home, surrounded by a symphony of blooms and buzzing life, continues to be a haven for these delicate creatures. As they embark on this new chapter, Cherie and Robert invite others to join them in their mission, weaving together a legacy of service, passion, and the profound beauty of nature’s wonders.
Today, Cherie, alongside her spouse of six years, Robert, forms a retired couple with a wealth of experience in volunteer management, bringing insights that enrich the fabric of community engagement. But their story doesn’t end there.
In their later years, Cherie and Robert have embraced a new passion: the delicate dance of monarch butterflies.
